Raspberry Pi Snap 12MP: Classic Compact Camera Module with Autofocus

After nearly 7 years of anticipation, Raspberry Pi has unveiled the Camera Module 3 series, succeeding the popular Camera Module 2 released in April 2016.

The new Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 Standard/Wide is designed for Raspberry Pi computers, boasting autofocus and a 12-megapixel sensor, seamlessly integrated with Raspberry Pi’s Picamera2 Python library for precise image control.

The Camera Module 3 marks a significant upgrade over its predecessor, featuring a 12-megapixel Sony IMX708 image sensor. It is available in standard (75°) and wide-angle (120°) lens options, as well as in regular and infrared-sensitive (NoIR) versions:

• The standard variant captures images in normal lighting conditions.
• The NoIR variant lacks an infrared filter, allowing it to be paired with an infrared light source for nighttime photography.
